What Causes Neck Pain and Stiffness?

Neck pain often occurs due to disruption in the soft tissues and the bone and joints of the spine. The most common causes of neck pain treated by chiropractic therapy is simply due to repetitive motions and strain. A pinched nerve can also trigger neck pain. When vertebra become unaligned this can crowd a sensory nerve, thereby “pinching” the nerve, which causes pain for an individual.

How King Chiropractic Clinic Can Help

The first thing to be done when an individual receives chiropractic care for neck pain and stiffness is to determine what is triggering the pain. This can be done by studying the movement of the neck, looking for areas of tenderness, and also by discussing the daily routine of the patient suffering from neck pain. Chiropractic manipulation and muscle relaxation will combat neck pain directly, but discussing lifestyle and posture with a patient as well may offer a more long-term solution.
